This is a graph from the EPA that demonstrates the major sources of sulfur dioxide emissions in the United States. Sulfur dioxide reacts with hydrogen peroxide in the atmosphere to form sulfuric acid, causing acid rain to form. Sulfur dioxide emissions account for about 70% of all acid deposition.
