Lobbying is the way big business makes things happen in Washington. It seems that, over time, big business has needed more help than ever from Washington. And they're paying for it. Top spending sectors spent $2B in 2005, up substantially from the $1.4B in 1998. Those lobbying firms are banking it. —huned

it appears that the cost of doing business on k street has increased substantially over the years.

one possibility is that it simply costs more for one's lobbying efforts because those counter-lobbying are also spending more.

or, it could just mean that k street has a new gold standard of the minimum it costs to make things happen.

or, the level of transparency which lobbying firms are required to report has been altered.

but which?
