It really surprises me that road transport in the UK peaked in 1989 and then began its steady but dramatic decrease. I'm sure that change has been very favorable to the environment. Let's figure out what they did and follow their example in the U.S.!

I think it's safe to say that America relies more heavily on road transport than the UK. While it may seem like a good idea to cut back on road transport, how plausible is it?

I have to say that I am skeptical of the message that is conveyed by this graph. That's not to say that I think the statistics are made up, but I feel like I don't have enough information on the meaning of "road transport" to really understand what's going on here. What is being measure on the y-axis?
