This is extremely good news, as the number of Nox emisssions have massively decreased since around 2000. This means there will be far less risk of any acid rain.
This is really interesting. I wonder why we still hear so much concern about the dangers of acid rain. Also, do you know if this trend holds true globally, or is it limited to the US?
I think it is great that the level of NOx emissions has decreased so much over the last 20 years. However, it is still important to discuss the dangers of acid rain so that people will not forget about it, and the level of NOx emissions will continue to decrease.
Although I have no support for this, I would assume that in less wealthy areas such as Eastern Europe and Siberia, acid rain is still prevalent, since less effort is often put toward helping the environment in poor economies.
Although I am happy to see that NOx emissions are going down, I am curious as to how long this data has been kept, because it seems that the amount stayed constant from 1980 to 1999
Yay for progress!
However, this data should be cross-referenced with the implementation of scrubbers. After all, factory processes may simply have become more efficient over the years, right?
Either way, it liiks like some invention around 1997 started the downward trend. That or else there is no data from before then.
