Two-and-a-half weeks ago, North Carolina's Gov. Mike Easley made a plea to North Carolinians to cut their water use in half by Halloween for the good of the state. Last Thursday, North Carolina released the results. While they fell short of the 50% target, based on an analysis of information from the 25 largest systems in the state, show an average drop in daily water use of nearly 30 percent from the month of August compared to the last week of October. —Bubbazen

It's good to see that communities are trying to meet certain goals to conserve the environment, especially water. If smaller communities can be successful in reducing the resources they use, I think it gives hope for many larger communities as well.
