Look at the range of MPG performance between similar engine sizes. For a 3.5 liter engine, the performance varies from 15 MPG to 22 MPG. It almost seems like laziness among automotive engineers to have such dismal performance on the low end.

This is why Toyota is going to take the top spot in the U.S. Their goal is to have hybrids make up 25% of the company’s vehicle volume by the end of the decade. The graph shows it all. While the big 3 (maybe soon to be big 2) focus on shoving corn into the fuel tank, Toyota will take the win.
