Percent of Coaltion Troops that are Not US Troops

This is one of the thirty five factors covered by the Iraq trends data set. Each one looked at independently can reveal insights that were not previously apparent. This particular factor was not directly reported by Michael O'Hanlon in his Brookings report but instead was calculated by combining two factors that were reported.

brian: yep. we need to add that logic in our graph creator. there is a threshold of points below which it ought to be a bar graph and above which it should be a line. thanks for posting these data! (about 1 year ago)
trendwatcher: I agree. I usually make the choice bar or line chart manually, but I think you are right that there could be a good heuristic threshold value that would pick a good default. There are several other chart options that I find handy and use regularly in my trend analysis work that I would love to see added over time to swivel. These include a) choice of log or linear scale for the Y axis b) choice dual Y axis for charts with two trend factors selected c) the ability to stack data from multiple factors and to present it as a colored in area chart d) the ability to add a moving average with an adjustable period I'll post these suggestions via feedback as well. trendwatcher: The new mouse over feature is great. Thanks The horizontal bar view sorts by percentage instead of alphabetically and makes all the country labels more readily visible. This makes for a very long chart that doesn't fit on a single screen but I still like this variant view for looking at and understanding this data set. (about 1 year ago)
eltuercas: where is mexico? i imagine a big macho spike. (about 1 year ago)
visnu: only a 5-6% drop, but 16.3% wasn't a great ratio to start out with.. (about 1 year ago)
trendwatcher: good point, visnu. And with the surge underway and the British troops getting ready to leave, I can see this percentage continuing to drop in the months to come. I have plans to to create an updated data set with more recent data and with monthly samples instead of yearly samples. (about 1 year ago)
