About Me

Okay, what about me that you should know. Well I love data and graphs but when it comes to statistics well I have failed psychology to statistics twice but I get the point of it. I just can't get the exams down. So does this make me an ideal examiner of graphs no not really but I have an upper hand to those who haven't taken it.

This graph shows the number of victims treated at the Medical Foundation and their respective countries of origin.

Terrorists tend to use bombing tactics

The most recent acts of terrorism in headlining news have included suicide bombers in Pakistan, car bombs in London and a flaming SUV that crashed through the doors of the international airport in Glasgow, Scotland. This graph shows that bombing has been the most common tactic used in terrorist incidents from 1968 through 2007; bombings are also responsible for over 50% of fatalities in terrorist incidents. Armed attacks account for about 25% of fatalities. The most common target of terrorist groups are private citizens and property, government, and police. Since 1968, over 13,000 people have been killed in attacks targeted towards private citizens and property. Despite the recent attention placed on terrorism in Western Europe, most terrorist incidents occur in the Middle East region. In individual countries, the highest number of terrorist incidents occur in Iraq. Also high on the list are West Bank/Gaza, Colombia, and Israel.

Wild-Mike: Natalie is this in the thousands? or? Just curious. (about 1 year ago)
Natalie: Hi Mike. The numbers here are not in the thousands. It's only the number of patients treated at the Medical Foundation in the UK during 2005. Unfortunately, it was difficult to find global comprehensive numbers for torture victims, so these numbers are from just a single clinic. (about 1 year ago)
: If this country was run by idiots like yourself, terrorism wouldnt be an issue. Get real people, BUSH IS NOT THE PROBLEM! The tension among Israel and Palestine has been Growing for ages. Wake up and smell the Jihad! Would it matter if Clinton was re-elected? There would be no difference. These graphs are crap. Caroline think before you make yourself look like a DISINGENOUS ANTI-AMERICAN BASTARD! (about 1 year ago)
Wild-Mike: I can only agree he should be impeached but would perfer him than Dick Chaney or speaker of the house. The graph does show a good trend but implying a relation to George Bush is miss leading and wrong. The same correlation could be placed with me getting my first car in 2000 since then there has been a rise in terrerist acts so is there a relationship? (about 1 year ago)
seema: I wasn't meaning to imply that the cause of the increase in terrorism was directly related to George Bush (although frankly I would not be surprised, but this relationship cannot ever be determined, only surmised), but simply that it's interesting to see how terrorist incidents have been on the rise ever since George Bush decided to wage this so-called "war on terrorism": i would assume that would imply that his (the us government's and military's) efforts were in decreasing the number of incidents. : The data isn't "a crock". It promotes the goal that most UN members support: Our children become richer if the US would only share its wealth and thus equalize the poverty. We must do it for the children. (about 1 year ago)
Wild-Mike: "Do it for the children" you know that was the line when UNICEF sent millions to Afgahnistan and the Taliban would raid the money and us it to train their militias. It breaks down to how much of the money that is to go to the children actually reach their destination. Maybe if the data showed a ratio of GDP to Education investment. Would best describe a countries status as a great educational provider. (about 1 year ago)
