tonysunchemplus: Good job guys. This process is used to remove sulfur from the atmosphere which in return assists in the prevention process of acid rain. (4 months ago)
Slam Conners: Wow! The number of atmospheric-sulfur reducing plants has increased astronomically since the olden thymes! This is surely a positive step for the environment! (4 months ago)
Charlie "McDreamy" Shobe: Well I must say, that is a significant increase. Hey you know how else they get Sulfur out of the air? SCRUBBING!! woohoo! GO ENVIRONMENT! How exactly do those facilities work? -Charlie (4 months ago)
Slam Conners: Gee whiz! The data spiked incredibly in 1989-1991! The Exxon Valdez must have been carrying a "boatload" of oil. ={) But, after the spill was finally cleaned up, the numbers have decreased. This is all things that are good for everyone! (4 months ago)
Charlie "McDreamy" Shobe: Yeah, the Valdez did spill a lot, but that year's total wasn't a crazy amount compared to previous years, and the total was also high in '88, before the Exxon Valdez wrecked. However, spills are declining overall as transportation methods get safer and more efficient and people get (arguably) less stupid. I think we need to go back to 2001, when only 8,000 tonnes were spilled. Any explanation for that exceptionally low year? (4 months ago)
wesleybrianandwoody: Well SO2 isn't the only contributor to acid rain. NOx is also a contributor, and most NOx emissions come from automobiles. (4 months ago)
Slam Conners: It's surprising how much SO2 is produced by coal-burning and electricity-generating plants. It seems like me buying a Prius and a bunch of fluorescent light bulbs wouldn't actually do that much difference. Instead, we should all live in caves. And eat squirrels. Raw. I'm in. (4 months ago)
Band of Stability:Manganese: Sammin' Slam is right. Caves are the way to go. Though, it probably wouldn't hurt to reduce electricity use. We should also switch to an alternate, low-to-no emission power source. We should enslave all rats, gerbils, and other rodents, and make them run wheels. (4 months ago)
